345 Madison Avenue

New York, New York

Built in 1921, 345 Madison Avenue contained many of the classical elements of the era. However, the building had been neglected for over 50 years, and it required an $8 million modernization to bring it back to its original splendor. Highlights include: the addition of three floors set back in unobtrusive black curtainwall; a trompe l'oiel ceiling in the lobby; all new Italian marble on lobby floors and walls; clerestory glass; new electrical risers, plumbing, and a water tower; and life safety and round-the clock security upgrading.
